Friday 20 July

A calm sea, low tide, grey skies with a promising blue horizon and Teresa walked down the shingle for her first sea swim of the year.
Joan continued her widths of the beach.
Teresa was joined by Sara, Emma, Sharon and partner followed by Anita and Alex.
Quite a lively crowd as they pulled on wetsuits bar Alex and Joan and with Emma in the lead splashed in and headed for the Poseidon buoy and on to Devil's elbow, Davy Jones Locker and back to the far western buoy.
Water temp a tad colder than previously but an enjoyable and energetic morning swim.

Alex and Joan kept the SSF flag flying

A cool grey morning as Joan the secret trainer hit the shingle 'Regis style.' A light westerly blew with an outgoing tide. She  completed 16 widths between the groynes as the waters slapped at her ankles tempting her in. Alex was seen trudging down the shingle and settled against the groyne. The water was still high with a fresh and lively chop as Joan made her way in followed by Alex who leisurely recharged and rejuvenated himself from his studies for his forthcoming exams.
We had a hot drink before clambering up the shingle homeward bound.

Air temp a pleasant 9C with a cool wind
Sea Temp approx. 7C
Swimmers: Alex, Joan
Landcrew: none
Cakes: none

Look forward to seeing a few more faces on Wednesday
The water was noticeably less cold today 20 March.

Secret Training for 3.30 (What is that?) marathon

A cool grey morning as the secret trainer for the 3.30 hit the shingle. A light westerly was blowing and an outgoing tide. Joan commenced running  between the GROYNES Hildi as the waters slapped at her ankles tempting and luring her in. 16 widths were completed as Alex trudged over the shingle and settled against the groyne.  The water was still high with a lively chop and Joan made her way in  followed by Alex who leisurely refreshed and rejuvenated from his studies for his forthcoming exams. Air Temperature was a pleasant 9 degrees C  as we clambered up the shingle on our way home. Look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday.
